Timothy M. “Wrench” Smith, age 59, of Belding, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at his home under the loving care of his wife and Corewell Health Hospice. The son of Michael Fredick & Michelle Rae (Lewis) Smith, he was born on March 18, 1964, in Grand Rapids, MI.
Tim was self-employed as a mechanic of both motorcycles and cars for most of his working years and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife, club brothers, and many friends. It was Tim’s love of riding his motorcycle and with the help of eleven other good friends which turned into brothers who brought Jokers M/C to Greenville, MI, of which he was a member since 2012. Tim enjoyed riding his motorcycle for benefits, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever there was a need. Tim was a prankster who just loved to see people laugh and have fun, saying limericks were always a guarantee to make you smile. Another favorite pastime, other than motorcycles, was fishing with his wife and daughter. Positive energy soared from Tim always finding the good in everything. On August 2, 2023, in Belding, he married his life partner of sixteen plus years, Thana Lynn Vogelsong.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Michael S. Smith, Mr. & Mrs. Carl C Lewis; mothers, Michelle R. Smith and Grasha J. Heyn, and his sister Jessica Smith.
Surviving is his wife, Thana Vogelsong-Smith; his father and step-mother, Michael F. & Julie H. Smith; his children, Steven Graham of Sunfield, and Grasha Smith of Belding; brothers and sister, Jodi Green Smith of Lake Odessa, David Waffle of Grand Rapids, Bonita & Thomas Steele of Belding, Amy & Jack Potratz of Palo, and Steven & Michelle Schafer of Saranac; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honoring Tim’s wishes, there will be two Celebrations of Life, the first with his family and friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Belding Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 1114 N. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809, and a second with his motorcycle family to be held at held at Jokers Motorcycle Club of Greenville at a later date. Tim wanted no one to be left out.
