Susan Lynn Harns, age 74, of Holt, Michigan passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023. Born March 7, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan, she was adopted at age 2 by Dale & Velma (Fair) Birdsall and her sister, Nancy.
Susan was married to Verlyn Harns for last 28 years. They loved to travel together to many places, including Shipshewana, and spending time with their grandchildren. Vern will miss spending time with Sue and the companionship that they had together.
Susan will be remembered as someone that never gave up, persevering through whatever came her way. As a single mom, she loved and prioritized her children over anything else – Scott (Cara) Doerfler, Robert (Idan) Doerfler-Eckstein, Nicole (Matt) Leitch and Kevin Stevens. She later became a mother to her daughter, Devin Doughty, considering her as one of her own. Susan cherished being a Grandmother to Gwen, Chloe, Cylee, Carsyn, Marissa, Kaiden, Brandon and Calvin.
She loved the Lord, her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her Harns siblings and families. Her hobbies included reading and scrapbooking (often with her sisters-in-law for her grandchildren). She wanted to be remembered as the spiritual rock for her family.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, August 11th at 11:00am at Community Faith Church in Holt, Michigan. Enter through Door 4. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations towards funeral expenses, which can be sent to Nicole Leitch – 10982 E. CD Avenue, Richland, MI 49083.

Even though I didn’t know her long She always came to church and had a beautiful smile and always was in a great mood. God has gained another angel. My prayers go out to Vern and her family. May God give all of you peace and the strength to get thru this.
