Shirley Jean Pifer, age 72, of Sand Lake, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.
The daughter of Bartlett Elmer & Helen Millie Marinik Appleby, she was born on November 14, 1947 in Grand Rapids.
On September 26, 1964 she married Allen Louis Pifer and together they raised 2 children and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Shirley enjoyed golf, camping, mushroom hunting, visiting the casino and was a member of Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. She had also worked outside the home as a cashier at Rite-Aid.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Gloria Woods and Susan Willis.
Surviving are her husband Allen Pifer of Sand Lake; their children, Annette & Doug Burleson of Belmont, and Brenda & Mike McCuaig of Sand Lake; her grandchildren, Jennifer Messick, Erica Traxler, Sara McCuaig, Bradley Burleson, Jonathan Burleson and Torie Burleson; one great-grandchild, Eli Messick, with a second on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring her wishes, no services will be held. Instead of flowers, Shirley would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Spectrum Health Hospice or American Cancer Society .
