Melissa “Missy” Ann Peckham returned to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 6th, 2021, at the age of 53, after her long race with Cancer.
Missy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 17th, 1968, and grew up in the Wayland and Byron Center Communities with many friends and family. She later met her best friend and future husband, Robert “Bob” Peckham in Cedar Springs, Michigan and they married on July 10th, 1987. They later welcomed their two sons, James and Sean Peckham who she adored.
Missy spent her adult years investing her work ethic and love for adventure and athleticism into her two sons and grandchildren. When she was not dedicating time to her job she loved at the Gun Lake Casino, she spent her time cheering her grandkids on at sporting events, taking them on new outdoor adventures or simply having craft days with them. Missy was strong in her faith and loved joining bible study with her mom and fellowship on Sundays. She loved her family dearly and all who knew her could see that in her daily life.
Missy loved to take her trials to the race, she developed a love and passion for running and involved her family as well. It later became a family activity to travel around Michigan and not only run races, but bring awareness to many causes near and dear to her.
Missy joins her precious granddaughter, Allie May in Heaven.
She will be missed by her loving husband of 33 years, Robert Peckham; sons, James (Tanya) Peckham and Sean (Shelby) Peckham; grandchildren, Macie, Dylan, James, and Olivia; parents, Jim and Linda Magee; sisters, Tami (Jack) DeLeeuw, Shelly (Devin) Eldred, and Renee (Jason) Walling; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept my faith. Now there is in store for me the Crown of righteousness, which the lord, the righteous judge, will awards to me on this day.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
A celebration of life will follow later this Spring.

Missy and I became best of friends in the 6th grade. We spent many weekends at each other houses. We loved to go rollerskating. We had so much fun laughing and hanging out. I became pregnant as a teenager and left Byron Center schools. Missy went on to Wayland although our lives went in different direction we always would pick up our friendship through out our adult lives. I will miss you my dear friend (pooh bear) sending you a great big squeeze Bob. James and Sean may you have comfort knowing you mom loved you both so much.
I am so sorry for your loss. l will be keeping all of you in my prayers and sending hugs to you. May you find comfort in knowing Missy is free from the pain and now running a 5k with Angel’s wings. Love to all
