Mary Lou (Johnston) Fisk, age 83, of Vestaburg, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan at her daughter’s home in Lake. The daughter of William Henry & Edith Pearl (Weatherby) Johnston, she was born on June 15, 1940 in Montcalm County. On April 19, 1958 in Stanton, she married Ronald J. “Pete” Fisk, and together they enjoyed forty-three years of marriage and raised four children.
Mary worked at High-Q in Edmore until the plant closing, and in retirement, enjoyed being a Foster Grandparent with Eight-cap at Montabella Schools. She was a long-time member of the Pine Grove Church in Stanton, gifted her talents of knitting and crocheting to bless others with blankets and mittens, enjoyed cooking and baking, and she and her late husband often camped while attending steam engine shows…however, her time spent with family was cherished above all else.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents William & Edith Johnston; her husband, Ronald “Pete” Fisk in 2001; three brothers, Andrew Johnston, Kenneth “Bud” Johnston, and Clarence “Cookie” Johnston; two sisters, Arlene “Peg” Cable, and Katherine Mae Smith; three infant grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Darrell Fisk; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Lohr.
Surviving are her four children, Ronald J. “Ronnie” Fisk, Jr., Kenneth L. “Kenny” & Karen Fisk, Teresa K. & Lonnie Donley, Sr., and Robert W. Fisk; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Brandon, Pattie, Lonnie Jr. & Cassie, James & Toni, and Hannah; eight great-grandchildren; her life-long friend, JoAnn Dehnert; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Honoring Mary’s wishes for simplicity, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at The Pine Grove Church (480 N. Pine Grove Road, Stanton) with a time of food and fellowship to follow at the church. Pastor Bruce Anna of The Pine Grove Church will officiate, and burial will take place privately next to her husband at Ferris Township Cemetery.
