Mark Edwin Beach, age 93, formerly of Six Lakes, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Corewell  Health – Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. The son of Julius Christian & Esther Myrtel (Blackler) Beach, he was born on June 9, 1930, in New Port, Idaho. On March 2, 1951, in Ionia, he married the sweetheart of his life, Elizabeth Ruamy Huey. Together, they enjoyed 72 years of marriage and raised seven children.

Mark served as Airman First Class with the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and earned the National Defense Service Medal for his service. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Greenville and Helena, Montana, and the Hough-Pontius Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3701 in Lakeview.

Mark retired from Operating Engineers, which he still misses, having built many roads in Michigan and Montana. He had a love of woodworking, making special items that have been shipped to loved ones, coast to coast. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching wildlife in the yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandsons, Paul Jones, Steven Lisser, and Rickie Haverstick; a son-in-law, Richard Barr; three sisters, Esther, Stella, and Hazel; a nephew, Joseph Huey; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Huey.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Ruamy; their seven children, Sandra Barr & Steve Robinson, Karen & Doug Jones, Edwin & Cathy Beach, Dale Beach, Nancy & Gregory Edwards, Sue Beach, and Daisy Wiseman; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren (with another on the way); six sisters, Dora, Doris, Dorothy, Lillian, Rose, and Grace; a special brother-in-law, Lorenzo Huey; and many more siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.  Pastor Mike Simmons will officiate and military honors, rendered by the United States Air Force, will conclude the ceremonies.  Burial will take place privately at East Plains Cemetery.

    Grandpa Beach will be missed dearly. He was a grandpa to me ever since I meet him. The past 15 years of being apart of this family he was always full of spitfire and good stories. I’m going to miss you very much ❤️

    Mark was a wonderful brother. We shared a great love of family and nature. He will be missed, but we will have the love and happiness we shared in our lives.

    I have met him and his wife at their Granddaughters wedding. they were a very warm and couple to talk with. I am sure they always leave a lasting impression on all they touch.
