Lyle Allen House, age 81, of Oakfield Township, passed away Friday afternoon, April 14, 2023 at Meadows by the Lake. The son of Everett Chancey “Zeb” & Verna Amelia (Hill) House, he was born on October 15, 1941 in Greenville and was a graduate of Greenville High School.
On August 5, 1967, at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, her married Carol Ann Gress and together they enjoyed 45 years of marriage and raised three children until Carol passed away on October 6, 2012.
Lyle worked for many years at the former Ranney Refrigerator Company/Northland Corporation, where he served as a union steward, and retired from American Seating in Grand Rapids. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lyle also delighted in dancing, was a member of the Danish Brotherhood Society, and in more recent years attended Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol House; a brother, Paul House; a sister-in-law, Beverly House; a brother-in-law, Art Lambertson; a nephew, Art Lambertson, Jr.; a niece, Delene Cramer; a great-niece, Kimberly McMeeken; and his special friend and companion, Diane Linton.
Surviving are his children, Ann Marie (House) Cotton-Vissers-Gay of Evart, John Eric & Pamela House of Cedar Springs, and Timothy Allen & Lora House of Lowell; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren (with a ninth on the way); a sister, Virginia Lambertson of Newaygo; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
