It is with great sadness that we announce that Lorice Lynn Smith, age 70, of Holland, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022.

 

She was born on August 29, 1951, Kalamazoo to Bernie & Marilyn (Burkett) VanderMolen. 

 

Lori was married for 44 years to her best friend and the love of her life, Lynn Smith.  

 

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed gardening, researching genealogy, watching football, traveling and spending time with her family. 

 

Survivors include her husband, Lynn S. Smith; children, Jessica and Luke VanderWal, and Travis and Heather Hersch-Smith; grandchildren, Owen and Emmalyn VanderWal, Alex and Adalyn Hersch; siblings, Terry and Linda VanderMolen, and Shelly and Rick Gibson. 

 

Please join us in celebrating Lori’s life at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Harderwyk Church, Outdoor Pavillion, 1627 W. Lakewood Blvd, Holland, MI 49424.

    Lynn, I’m so sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet her. but I do remember you and your and your family. My deepest sympathy to you.

    My condolences to the family. I lost one of my best friends of a lifetime. Miles and years separated us physically but, never our hearts. Lori was always ready to please others. Very giving. So many things I loved about her. She is tucked in my heart, and will be forever.

    My heart breaks because she was my cousin, and she was taken from all of us way too soon. Her death was so unexpected. My heart also breaks for Lynn, Jessi and her family, Travis and his family and for her sister Shelly and brother Terry.
