Larry Gene Parr, age 77, of Stanton, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Edwin & Alberta (Barlond) Parr, he was born on May 24, 1942 in Jackson.
A licensed plumber by trade, Larry also farmed and worked as a pipefitter at GM’s Oldsmobile plant in Lansing. On June 5, 1960, in Onondaga, he married Joann Marie Baxton and together they raised three children and enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Brent Parr and Todd Parr; and a sister, LaVonda Comstock. Surviving are his wife, Joann Parr of Stanton; their daughter, Julie & Ray Jones of Carrollton, Texas; six grandchildren, Tyler, Benton, Reid, Jamie, Elizabeth, and Brent; a great grandson, Cole; three brothers, Edwin & Jean Parr of Eaton Rapids, Preston & Virjean Parr of Onondaga, and Roger Parr of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will take place privately at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos.
Envelopes for memorial contributions to either the Alzheimer’s Association or Spectrum Health Hospice will be available at the funeral home.
