Judy Kay Vereeke, age 82, of Gowen, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, under the care of West Michigan Hospice at Green Acres of Lowell. Judy was born on March 21, 1941 in Grand Rapids, the last of seven children born to Peter & Cora (Nordyke) Jansma. She married her high school sweetheart, John David “Dave” Vereeke II, on December 6, 1958 in Greenville and together they began their family, enjoying nearly 64 years together and raising three sons.
Judy worked as a clerk at the Meijer Pharmacy in Greenville. She was a member of Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen, where she loved to volunteer. A devoted wife, mother and grandma, she delighted in cooking, baking, and keeping a tidy house. She was an avid sports fan, and watched the Detroit Tigers, and her three sons play high school football – she only ever missed one of her sons games their entire high school playing careers. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, her game shows, and soap operas…but her time spent with her family was cherished above everything else.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave Vereeke on January 29, 2021; and six siblings, Hank Jansma, James Jansma, Frances Shotko, Don Jansma, Robert Jansma, and Shirley Pratt.
Surviving are her three sons, John Vereeke III of Gowen, Gary Vereeke of Gowen, and Chris & Dawn Vereeke of Alhambra, Illinois; five grandchildren, Clint (fiancé Jayla) Vereeke, Travis (fiancé Alexis) Vereeke, Tara & Austin Gasser, McKenna Vereeke and Cash Vereeke; four great-grandchildren, Natalie, Collette, Oaklyn and Joselyn, with her fifth great-grandchild on the way; her brother’s wife, Alice Jansma; sister-in-law, Nancy & Robert Allen; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
At Judy’s request, no services will be held. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Judy’s online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit: www.MichiganCremation.com

I am so very saddened by Judy’s passing. She was my favorite “person/patient”. And I will miss our long hugs and conversation.
During one of many of our talks, we found out we were distantly related. My mother’s uncle was also a Vereeke. And come to find out, was Daves fathers’ brother.
I had a few pictures that I brought to our next conversation and thankfully Dave was there to see them as well.
Sending thought and prayers to all family members, she adored her family. I will miss Judy!
