Judith Marie (Gibson) Newville, age 67, of Grand Rapids went to heaven peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, July 17, 2020. She was born October 4, 1952, in Grand Rapids, to the late Robert and Marie (Stumm) Gibson. Judy graduated from Union High School with the class of 1971. She went on to study at Western Michigan University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Science with a Major in Physical Education and a Minor in Dance. Judy married Dennis James Newville on May 15, 1976, in Grand Rapids. Together they had three children and celebrated 40 years of marriage before Dennis passed away on April 27, 2017.

Judith “Judy” (aka “Gibbers”) was deeply loved by her family, church family, and friends. In her life she demonstrated constant grace and diligence. She was a strong supporter of her family as a loving wife and home educator of her 3 children, as well as being a small business owner/operator of Jaymo’s Pizzeria for over 9 years. She was Homecoming Queen, a Cheerleader, Dance Instructor, Lifeguard, PhysEd teacher, Grand Haven admirer and so much more. Judy was fun; a kind, loyal, generous, and spontaneous friend. She was a jewel. A facet of her beauty included a quiet courage and ability to be content in experiencing life’s journey. Most resolutely, Judy was a Christian who loved the Lord. His constant and expressed love towards her proved true as she lived out her life, her mandate, and thereafter. She has left this earth and is now in heavenly places with Jesus.

Survivors include her children, Shane W. Newville, Shawna M. Waldon (Newville), Michael (Amber) J. Newville; 8 grandchildren; siblings; Joe (Gail) Gibson, Doug Gibson and James Gibson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis J. Newville; her father, Robert Gibson; her mother, Marie Gibson; her sister, Kathy Heemstra (Gibson); sisters-in-law, Sherri Gibson and Diane Setterington (Newville); and brothers-in-law, Billy Lee Newville, and Dale Jay Newville.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning around 2:30 pm at The Point Church, 3449 76th St. SE Caledonia, MI 49316.

I remember Judy from when I was younger. I grew up with her kids for many years and even worked for her at Jaymo’s. She was always kind with a smile on her face. She has definitely had a full life. I am celebrating with the family for we know where she is now. You have finished your race Judy. I love you and miss you.
