John David Oryczcak, 70, of Parchment, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Metro Health: University of Michigan Hospital under the loving care of his family.

Born on August 13, 1949, in Kalamazoo. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Rosiland Oryczcak. He grew up in Parchment, Michigan Small town USA where he said he would wake up in the morning, make Cinnamon toast and get on his bike until it was time for supper.

He was an intellectual self taught man who’s determination to figure something out didn’t let him stop until he got the job done. A Majority of his career life was spent working on the railroad in his younger years and ended at Summit Polymers where he was the CMM Machine operator / programmer where he retired. He joked once that being retired for him meant nothing to do and a lot of time to do it.

A man of many talents throughout the years he mastered many hobbies some of which were sailing, fishing, woodworking, musician, stock trading, electrician and mechanic where he touched the lives of many on his journey through this life.  Later in life he found joy in trips to Costco, time at South Haven and being with family.

John was a great carpenter and built a house at Gun Lake where many lasting memories still remain in the hearts of his family and friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; daughters, Karen(Kenya) and Lydia(Asher); stepdaughter, Jennifer; stepson Jason; grandchildren, Tyreece, Devon, Bailey, Monica, Chloe, Asher Jr, Braylen, Layla, London, Brielle and Nathaniel; brothers, Tom(Shirley) and Richard; sisters, Connie and Kathy and many nieces and nephews.

As a very young teacher at Parchment High School, I remember John as a studious and serious young man. I have very fond memories of John and many of his classmates. My family holds his family in our prayers on his final journey.

Such a quiet man. I always enjoyed speaking to you, when I would visit Karen. You will be missed.

I have so very many memories of your dad, Karen! To this day, I still chuckle out loud when I think of him and the witty things he used to say to us. His tolerance for a couple of wild teenage girls was like none other! I love you all and will keep your families in my thoughts and prayers. xoxo

My dear husband John, I’wish that we would have had the opportunity to say goodbye and have one last kiss and hug. I will miss you until the last breath I take. God’s speed my love.
