John William Cinka, aged 72, passed away at home under the loving care of his family and hospice, on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was born on April 18, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan.

John always said, “If I’m gone…I’ve gone fishing!”.

He won The Willy Heston Memorial Fishing Contest in 1964 at age 14.

John enlisted in the Army in 1966 at age 17. During his time in Vietnam he earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

He was a boat builder, wood worker, artist, and fisherman!

John’s best friend, Mike Brocker, went to Heaven seven weeks before, to stake out the best fishing holes.

He leaves behind his fiancé, Tami, and her family; his sons, Jonathan and Christopher; his best buddies “Ka-Bob” and “Tyrone”, and many friends around the world.

May your knots be tight and your waters gentle!

John and were young men when we first met. Our friendship grew over our love of Steelhead fishing the Tolt, Snoqualmie rivers and many different trout lakes in our region. His humor was infectious and our banter never stopped. I will hold dear our time spent. I am so glad he had Tami and the boys in his life. Thanks so much for loving my friend. Scott Strickland
