Larry was a stellar semi driver for 48 years with 3 million miles under his belt. He received his last dispatch on September 29, 2019, to the Pearly Gates and into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Larry was born on February 20, 1941, to the late Herbert & Dorothy Cummings. Also, preceding him in death was his son, Don.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Bonnie, who he met in Kmart receiving 25 years ago and lovingly referred to his “blue light special.” He is further survived by his sons, Dan of Mancelona and Larry Jr. of Orlando; along with his inherited daughters, Amy Reed of Galesberg, Jennifer (Danny) Cantu, Ginger (Jeff) Sawin of Fruitport and Jolene Shade of Cheyenne, WY; brothers, Dean (Tammy) Cummings of Newport, WA, Chester (Ginny) Cummings of Syrma, DE; sisters, Flossie Overholt of Cheyboygan, Loraine (Dave) Olson of Marquette and Donna Cowper of Shelbyville, KY. Larry and Bonnie’s blended family included seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

After retirement, many leisurely hours were spent camping on their property in Central Lake, MI, where Larry grew up on the family farm. In other pastimes, he was a beautiful woodworker making keepsakes for those he loved. Larry also had a passion for tractors, especially Farmall (If it ain’t Red, leave it in the shed) and took part in several area parades winning many awards with his pride and joy. He and his Farmall Super C also participated in the Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing 5 times, loving every minute of it. We want to thank Larry’s dedicated medical team of heart specialists, Tandem 365 and Faith Hospice for the their compassionate and loving care.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Forest Grove Christian Reformed Church, 3515 Perry Street, Hudsonville, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Jeff Scripps officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids.
