Gloria J. (VanderPloeg)  Gerrits, age 81, of Hudsonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

Her vibrant, fun-loving, light up a room personality will be missed by so many of the lives she touched.

Gloria is loved and survived by her children, Mike (Diane) Gerrits, Susan (Bob) Hoek and Ty Gerrits;  grandchildren, Keith and Kyle Hoek, Casey (Alivia) Gerrits and Haley Gerrits; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Gerrits;  siblings, Garry (Mary Lou) VanderPloeg, Beth (Gary) Post, and Dale (Jan) VanderPloeg and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her special friend, Roger TeGrootenhuis and his children and grandchildren who loved her like their own.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Harvey J Gerrits; and parents,  Gary and Mildred (Kroodsma) VanderPloeg.

Gloria was a member at 1st Christian Reformed Church in Hudsonville for over 60 years.

Gloria’s family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00 am until memorial service at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 8 , 2022, at  1st Christian Reformed Church, 5486 32nd Avenue, Hudsonville.  They will also be available after the service in the church basement from noon until 2 p.m. to share stories and memories of Gloria’s life.  Light refreshments will be served.  To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Gloria’s online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit:

    We loved Gloria, She was a light here at the Georgetown Senior Center and we will not forget her loving smile and humor. We will miss her and are so sorry for your loss.

    So very sorry for your loss. Karen and I will be in a wedding in New Orleans on the 8th otherwise we would be there to memorialize your mom. Peace and Love!

    We sure will all miss Aunt Gloria:( We do not have 1 bad memory of her. She was always smiling, always ready to help or go have some fun. Rest in peace Aunt Gloria:)
