Frances DeBruin, 80, of Cascade Township, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Born on April 22, 1940 in Achlum, Friesland, Netherlands, she was the fourth child of Louis and Arena (Wynia) Bergsma. The family immigrated to Michigan in 1947 and moved to Lafayette, IN in 1949. For a number of years in both Lafayette and Mt. Pleasant MI, Fran provided loving care to patients and nursing home residents as a LPN nurse.

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband Robert (Bob) of nearly 55 years; their children, Darryl & Judy DeBruin, Joel & Yolanda DeBruin, Leah & Michael Haywood; grandchildren, Grant, Mitchell, Connor, Eleyna, Lisa, Kevin, Jonathan, Abby, Sarah, and Meredith; brother, Frank & Sally Bergsma; sisters-in-law, Betty Lapinsky, Grace Wilbanks, Joyce & Jerry Yntema, Shirley & Larry VanderLaan; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held once the pandemic restrictions permit. The family wants to thank the staff at Oxford Manor (Clark at Keller Lake) for their loving care for Fran over the last two years. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Clark Foundation, 1551 Franklin St SE, Grand Rapids MI 49506, or Alzheimer’s Association (memo: Greater MI-Grand Rapids Office), 4081 Cascade Rd SE, Suite 400, Grand Rapids MI 49546.
