Ernest Lee Jensen, age 68, of Spencer Township, Gowen, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his home following a brave battle with cancer under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice.  The son of Christopher Albert & Phyllis Jean (Schultz) Jensen, he was born on April 19, 1954 in Lansing.

Raised in the Vermontville area, Ernie was a life long outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and spent most of his working years with Concrete Breaking & Cutting Company of Grand Rapids.

On August 3, 1985, in Gowen, he married Tammy Marie Beemer and together they enjoyed nearly 38 years of marriage and raised one daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pat and John; and two brothers-in-law, Pete Borstler and Bruce Beck.

Surviving are his wife, Tammy Jensen;  their daughter, Kimberley Jensen;  two granddaughters, Karissah Kleynenberg and her fiancée, James Siegel, and Keirsten Kleynenberg;  a son-in-law, Christopher Kleynenberg;  his brothers and sisters, Chuck & Lynn Jensen, Larry & Nancy Jensen, Christine & James Turner, Mike & Mary Ann Jensen, Sue Jensen, Sally & Brian Simmons, and Becky & Shawn Scott;  siblings-in-law, Tom & Brenda Beemer, Cindy Borstler, and Suke Beck; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Ernie’s life beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Spencer Township Hall, 14960 Meddler Avenue N.E., Gowen, where military honors will be rendered by the United States Army.
