Elizabeth Waggoner, of Wyoming, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on August 14, 2023 at the age of 90.
Liz was born on August 3, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of George and Jeanette (Cantrill) Waggoner. Liz graduated from Redford High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Wayne State University and a Master’s Degree from The University of Michigan. Liz married Harry Farsakian in 1957 in Detroit and settled in Saline, Michigan. Liz was later united in marriage with James Davis and lived in Ann Arbor, Gaylord, and then Wyoming, Michigan. Liz was a caring, compassionate and dedicated nurse and was a pioneer in the field of home health care and discharge planning. She worked for the Visiting Nurses Association, University of Michigan Hospital and Gaylord VA Clinic. Liz also participated in 2 mission trips to Haiti where she provided vaccinations and basic health care to local residents. Liz was an active lady who was always up for a new adventure and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed walking, running, swimming, kayaking and traveling throughout the U.S. She fulfilled her lifelong dreams of riding a mule into the Grand Canyon and kayaking in the Pacific Ocean. Liz was an avid reader, a genealogist, and each fall brought excitement for this enthusiastic fan of the Michigan Wolverines. Liz was strong in her faith and a devoted member of the United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Most of all, her favorite times were spent with family and friends.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Aunts Carrie, Ruth and Alice, Uncle Ralph and Jim’s daughter, Susan. Liz is survived by her children, Kathryn Sory of Jenison, Janice Battilana of Otsego, and Steven (Melissa) Farsakian of Ann Arbor.
She leaves behind four grandchildren: Alex (Jessica) Sory, lan (partner Liz Sickels) Sory, Stuart Farsakian and Emily (Kyle) Kenser; as well as great-grandchildren Conner and Trever Rose, Landon and Hudson Sory and Xavier Broene.
She is also survived by Jim’s children, Robert (Lori) Davis and Jan (David) Faustin, 3 granddaughters, Alexandra (Eric), Jacquelyn and Victoria and very special friends Ross and Jerre Jean Conran and their children Ronald and Patrick.
A service will be held on September 16, 2023 at Coopersville United Methodist Church with visitation at 12:00pm, the service at 1:00 and a reception to follow. Liz will also be remembered at the All Saints service at the First United Methodist Church of Gaylord on November 5, 2023.
