Darrel Iven Lanning, age 91, of Dorr, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2021.  He was born December 3, 1929, in Mancelona, Michigan, to the late Perley and Mildred (Maddocks) Lanning.  Darrel proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Bertha M. Mullens on March 7, 1953, in Mancelona.  Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage before Bertha passed away during 2015. Darrel worked for Reynolds Aluminum for 36 years and was a member of the area United Church of God.

Survivors include his sons, Lawrence (Donna) Lanning and Darrel Lanning; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Elynore Allan of Tennessee; numerous cousins, especially Melvin (Donna) Lanning and Bravard Helms; plus lifelong friends, Dale and Dorothy McKay.

Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; daughter-in-law, Denise Lanning; and brother, Allen .

A graveside service will be celebrated on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 2.00 p.m. at Dorr Township Cemetery.  Darrel’s cremated remains will be buried there with Bertha’s.
