Dale J. Spotts, age 84, of Newaygo passed away on November 15, 2019 at home under the loving care of his family.

He was born on March 13, 1935 in Hillsdale, MI. After graduating from high school, Dale enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean war and served for 4 years. He was attending Western Michigan University under the GI Bill when he met Jackie in the spring of 1960 and they wed on November 5, 1960. Dale re-enlisted in the Air Force in the spring of 1961. He spent the next 19 years honorably serving in the Air Force and retired as a Technical Sergeant with 23 years of service. Dale’s second career with the Department of Defense lasted for another 20 years as a Quality Control Adjustor working at Smith Industries previously known as Lear Siegler, Inc. in Kentwood.

Dale had a love for nature and enjoyed watching deer, turkeys, and birds in his Newaygo home. He liked to go hunting, and fishing with family members. His main passion was playing golf with his children and grandsons. In high school, he lettered in four varsity sports and watched the Detroit pro sports teams play on TV through out the years.

Dale is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jackie of Newaygo; son, Stanley & Sora Spotts; daughter, Tracy & Bart Johnson; son, David & Amy Spotts; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Neil Spotts; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service,  223 N. Bedford Road, Battle Creek, 49037 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place with full military honors at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, at 1:00 pm.
