Betty Lou Vincent, age 90, of Newaygo, Michigan gained her angel wings on Friday, July 17, 2020 2020 at her daughters home surrounded by love and family.

She was born in Gilford, Michigan to Lena Mae Ackerman Sutherland who has preceded her in death along with her step-father, Robert Sutherland both of Newaygo.

In 1947, she married Donald William Vincent, Sr., who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Keith Lynwood Russell of Broham, Michigan, Thurlow Wayne Russell of Palaka, Florida, and William Lamont Russell of Jerseyville, Illinois;  and fer faithful companion, Sophie Mae.

Betty spent 28 years working for the Newaygo Public School System. She started working in the kitchen and driving bus, then working in the middle school office as a secretary loving each of her teachers, co-workers, bosses, and students as her own…  they all were considered “her kids”. She touched many hearts and was always there when any of them needed anything, someone to listen or a hug. She is known to many as Mom Vincent. Later years nothing made her happier than when she saw a former student who would stop her and remember her. She was loved by many and she loved them. They truly touched her heart.

Betty is survived by her five children, Connie Vincent of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Barbara  & Joses Anderson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Donald William Vincent Jr. & Stephanie Grell of Fremont, Michigan, Dan Vincent of Coopersville, Michigan, Sandy & Robin Peavey of White Cloud, Michigan;  her special friend, Kristie Kelcava  of Newaygo, Michigan (who was loved as an adopted heart granddaughter);  and her faithful furry companion, Gypsy Rose Lee, who rarely left her side.  She also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren;  and fifteen great- grandchildren;  and numerous nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration  of life service will be held at a later date.  Instead of flowers, memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice or to the family to assist with final expenses, would be appreciated.

Sad to hear of this lady’s passing. Betty was indeed all that was said and so much more. A very special lady, who was my own angel while I attended school at Newaygo.

She will be very much missed and eternally loved.
