Betty Jane (Zalesak) Allen, age 95, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023.  She was born March 11, 1928, in Racine, Wisconsin, to the late Bartholomeow and Julye (Friso) Zalesak. She graduated from Grand Rapids Public School system and went on to obtain an Associates Degree from Davenport University.

Betty married William B. Allen and raised their two children together.  She had multiple jobs throughout her working years such as working in the accounting department at Wurzburg’s Department Store, the circulation department at the Grand Rapids Press, and also at Pediatrics Associates in Grand Rapids.   In her spare time, she was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and loved watching classic movies.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Bruce) Hanna and Gary (Darlene) Allen; grandchildren, Christopher (Theresa) Allen, Bradley (Jennifer) Allen, Julie Allen, Tara Hanna, and Nicole (Anthony) Toune; great-grandchildren, Emma Allen, Lily Allen, Gavin Allen, Paisley Allen, Reese Allen, Curtis Batchelder, Avery Toune, Morgan Toune; sister-in-law, Beverly Prentiss; and special friend, Ashley Rosales.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Allen; her parents; brother, Bert Prentiss; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Allen.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place.  A memorial service is being planned and details will be announced as soon as they become available.
