Betty J. Crandell, age 83, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021. She was born on December 24, 1937, in Wyoming Michigan, to Theodore & Irene (Dykstra) Sytsma.

Betty married Wallace Crandell on April 27th, 1957. Together they had four children Beck, Jack, Chuck and Jill. Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mom, enjoyed Saturday road trips visiting family members, catching up on all the news! She loved the summers not so much the winters, she’d sit on the porch enjoying the weather reading a good book!  Mom loved her animals, they were so spoiled! we were lucky to have a place to sit if they wanted the couch!

Mom, was an amazing parent with a kind and caring heart, always had a listing ear with no “judgment” just love! She was known as Mrs. C to all of our friends, inviting you in for chili, Friday night pizza or a beer. The house was always full of friends and family laughing and having a good time. She never ever let anyone leave the house without sending them home with something, could be anything as long as you had something, lol!!!

Grandma, was loved by all her grand & great children! They always loved going to her house, they were sure to find a special surprise in the “drawer” and always had a lap to crawl up with lots of giggles and treats! Great cookouts by the pool, where most of us all learned how to swim! The strength, fight and passion she had inside her to love care and protect her loved ones until the very end.
SammieJo, loved the strength, fight and passion she had inside her to love care      and protect her loved ones until the very end.

Nichole, loved how caring she was. She was always worrying about my damn        cows!!

Betty retired from Meijer where she gained a lifetime of friends! Her friends say she was the best to work with, always happy and smiling, always helping others!

Survivors include son, Charles Crandell; daughter, Jill Foster (Crandell); grandchildren, SammieJo Kornoelje, Wade & Samantha Kornoelje, Nichole & Mitchell Elsey, Cody Crandell, JJ Crandell, Kevin Wilson and Ira Foster; great grandchildren, Kinsly & Hoyt Kornoelje and Silver Crandell; many nieces, nephews and friends which were all special to her!

Per her wishes cremation has taken place. Due to continued state restrictions on public gatherings, private services will be held later this summer.
