Barbara E. Mead, age 71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, August 10, 2021 from her home near Rockford.  The daughter of David & Lois Mae (Korstange) Good, she was born on December 28, 1949 in Grand Rapids.

Barb was a graduate of the Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing, and first worked as a neonatal nurse and later in community health with the Kent County Health Department.  On May 15, 1971, in Alaska, Michigan, she married the Rev. Daniel L. Mead and they raised four sons and enjoyed 48 years of marriage until Pastor Dan passed away on July 7, 2019.  She was also preceded in death by her mother, Lois Good;  a brother, James Good;  and her parents-in-law, Rev. Freeland “Fred” & Betty Mead.

Surviving are her father, David Good of Caledonia;  her children,  Daniel &  Jennifer Mead, Matthew & Tina Mead, all of Rockford, Nathan Mead of Grand Haven, Froi Mead of Holland;  six grandchildren, Logan, Graceyn, Noah & Kiana, Megan, Lincoln, and Leal;  three sisters, Marcia & Dean Thompson of Caledonia, Dr. Carol Good of Cedar Springs, and Mary & Charlie Peterson of Holland; a brother, John & Chrisann Good of Caledonia;  a sister-in-law, Barbara & Ronald Holthe of Iowa;  and several nieces and nephews.  She looked forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild in 2022.

Barb’s new and eternal life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 12501 Montcalm Avenue N.E., Greenville, with the Rev. R. Mark Shaw officiating.  Honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation and burial will take place privately at Courtland Township Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, contributions in memory of Barb to the Building Fund at Calvary Baptist Church would be appreciated.  Envelopes will be available at the church.

    How can we be sad when we know the reward! We can only imagine! Praying you take great comfort in knowing what you know about Heaven, missing her presence but love knowing she is whole and well!

    Barb was my cousin. She and Dan were very special people. He was my assistant pastor at Calvary Baptist Church. I will miss her very much! There are some people that just can’t be “replaced”!! She will be missed at the “GOOD FAMILY REUNION” in Dutton, Michigan, the first week in September.
