Alice “Joy” Posthumus, 90, of Holland passed away February 2, 2020, at home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.
Joy was born on January 8th, 1930 to Thomas & Bertine Sherwood in Ferry, Michigan. She enjoyed teaching Catechism, and was a scripture leader for many years at Our Lady of the Lake Church. A memorial will be held there later in the spring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sons, Mark and Kim; son, Kim Eugene Engweiler; in-laws, Peter & Grace Posthumus, Howard “Sonny” & Camille Sherwood, Claude & Jean Anthes, and Ron & Janet Posthumus; and granddaughter, Aundria Bowman. She leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years, Charles “Chuck” Posthumus; daughter, Brenda & Dennis Bowman; sister, Joan & Larry Wiseman; grandson, Jayson & Missy Engweiler; granddaughters, Vanessa Bowman & Don, Becky & Richard Baxter; great-granddaughter, Hannah Engweiler; great-grandsons, Caleb Engweiler, and Daniel Engweiler; daughter-in-law, Judy Engweiler; sisters & brothers-in-law, Darlene & David Anacker, Roger & Sharon Posthumus, and Joyce Jorgensen; many nieces & nephews; and special friends, Tina, Bill, Leigha, Brayden, and Keeton DeKoster.
The family is very thankful for Spectrum Health Hospice. Special thank you to Andrea & Wendy for their wonderful care – Joy loved you; and to Troy for all his guidance and support.
