Mr. Wilmer C. Morris, age 90, of Fenwick, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2008 under the care of Central Michigan Hospice at Margarets Meadows Care Center in Remus. The son of Wilmer C. & Grace A. (Baker) Morris, he was born on Oct. 24, 1917 in Fenwick. On June 11, 1938, in Sheridan, he married the former Ruby Mae Stearns.
For most of his life, Wilmer farmed and worked as a professional truck driver hauling milk, lumber, and refrigerators. He enjoyed woodworking, making lawn ornaments, playing cards, singing, and will be remembered as a great story teller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Laverne; four sisters, Elsie, Esther, Gladys, and Dora; and five brothers, Homer, Orville, Clare, Hartley, and Wayne.
Surviving are his wife of over 70 years, Ruby Morris; their four sons, Gilbert & Margaret Morris of Fenwick, Donald & Sandra Morris of Big Rapids, Larry Morris of Stanton, and Charles & Deanna Morris of Fernley, Nevada; three brothers, Earle Morris of Greenville, Fred & Maxine Morris of Sheridan, and Bob & Elizabeth Morris of Howard City; four sisters, Phyllis Stearns of Sheridan, Inez Welsh of Wacousta, Alice & Robert Childs of Belding, and Caroline & Forest Sage of Sheridan; 13 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with burial following at Clear Lake Cemetery, Fenwick. Wilmers son, Gilbert Morris, will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions to the charity of ones choice are available.

Wilmer was truly a fine man. We remember the good times we had being pulled thru snowdrifts in the winter and visiting with the boys while our parents played cards.
