Wayne Leroy Elliott, age 71, of Byron Center, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on January 3rd 2017 in Byron Center, from complications of Agent Orange Parkinson’s Disease.  Wayne was diagnosed young and fought Parkinson’s disease for 40 years by staying active and physically fit. He attended Bryon Center high school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Central Oklahoma. He proudly served in the United State Air Force, and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

In his younger years, Wayne worked as a Parks and Recreation Director.  Later he became a self-taught Landman and the sole proprietor of Elliott Energy Services in Oklahoma. He had a special love for dogs, especially German Shepherds.  Wayne was a “charmer” and a man of many talents.  He was an expert golfer (achieving 4 hole-in-ones in his lifetime), a “pool shark”, a self-taught guitarist, and singer/song writer.  When he was no longer able to play guitar, he enjoyed spending his time singing karaoke.

He is preceded by his parents, Versile & Maria Elliott.

Wayne is survived by his two older sisters; two younger brothers; five daughters; four grandsons; and one granddaughter.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A special thank you goes out to Glenda Parks, and the volunteer staff, especially the karaoke volunteers at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans where Wayne lived in his final years. Another thank you goes out to the staff at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods in Byron Center for the excellent care they provided for Wayne in his final days.

Honoring his wishes cremation will take place. Family will be holding a private Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Trillium Woods of Byron Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids
