Mrs. Verda L. (Hatinger) Sadler, age 89, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, September 19, 2009 from her home overlooking Baldwin Lake.

The daughter of ML & Ethel (Barber) Maxfield, she was born at home near Cedar Lake on Dec. 9, 1919.

On Oct. 25, 1935 she married Basil Hatinger, and together they made their home in Edmore and raised three children, in addition to operating the Sealtest milk route. After 33 years of marriage, Basil preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1968.

On February 6, 1971 she married Lloyd E. Sadler and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2001.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Derwood Maxfield; a sister-in-law, Sadie Maxfield; and a niece, Joeine Hay.

Verda enjoyed living the last years of her life at her favorite spot on Baldwin Lake, along with her flower garden. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and out west. A member of the First United Methodist Church, she was faithful to her Lord and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her three children, Janet & Don Gorsuch of Baldwin Lake and New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Earl & Janet Hatinger of Crystal, and Bruce & Sue Hatinger of Baldwin Lake and Bullhead City, Arizona; her step-children, Joyce & Wayne Hascall of Spring Lake, Jack Sadler of Coral Springs, Fla., and Joel & Marcia Sadler of Fraser; ten loving grandchildren, Tammy & John Tipton, Tracy & Eric Nichols, Donnette & Bob Anderson, Todd Gorsuch, Scott Hatinger, Gwenn Mesler, Beth & Charlie Trim, Amy Hatinger & David Smith, Matthew Hatinger, Earl Christopher Hatinger; and eighteen wonderful great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Greenville, with Pastor Steve Charnley officiating.

Instead of flowers, Verda would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Greenville, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

Honoring Verdas wishes, cremation has taken place and private interment will be in Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore.
