Mr. Timothy Lee Bowers, age 72, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Michigan after a short battle with leukemia.
Tim was born May 4, 1939 in Charlotte and was preceded in death by his parents, Merna (Shepard) & Cecil Bowers; stepmother, Luella Bowers; and half-sister, Robin (Bowers) Bundoff. Following his graduation from Haslett High School in 1957, Tim proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years, then worked as an officer for the Lansing Police Department for three years, and for the remainder of his 40 year working career, Tim distinguished himself as an insurance adjuster for Michigan Millers and Hasting Mutual Insurance companies.
Tim is survived by the love of his life, Judith D. (Dittman) Bowers; son, Kevin (Kim) Bowers; grandchildren, Justin and Kara Bowers; son, Timothy (Maria) Bowers; grandchildren, Shannon and Noah Bowers; great-grandson, Landon (Shannon) O’Neil. Tim is also survived by a step-brother, Alan Robart; and other extended family. Tim and Judy were married in 1960 and celebrated 51 years of marriage last May. They enjoyed many trips together and with friends. Tim and Judy seldom missed an opportunity to express their love for one another and even traveled to Las Vegas on their 30th anniversary to renew their marriage vows. Tim loved attending his grandson Noah’s baseball games, cross-country races, and wrestling matches. Tim was a devoted fan of the Grandville High School wrestling program for 35 years, where he developed friendships with wrestlers, coaches and officials alike… celebrating their successes on and off the wrestling mat. Tim especially admired Grandville coaches, Tom Krepps and Gordy Alles, for their devotion as coaches and mentors to so many young people. Tim’s leadership and love will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and Tim’s remains will be interred in the Grandville Cemetery following a private family ceremony. Arrangements were entrusted to the Michigan Cremation Company, honored provider of Veterans Funeral Care. www.MichiganCremation.com
