George Robert Stadlmayr, 88, went to Our Lord the morning of February 19, 2018 while at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center Palliative Care Unit.
George entered this world on September 26, 1929 to parents, Alois & Josephine (Fenn) Stadlmayr in Columbus, Ohio. He served in the Army during 1951-53 Korean Conflict. He was a longtime resident of Southwest Michigan as proprietor and operator of V J George Beauty Salon, St Joseph, MI since 1969. George was an entrepreneur of many commercial ventures, supporter of the arts and good conversationalist.
George is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Jo Carlisle; brother-in-law, Walter J. Carlisle Jr., and nephew, Walter Joseph Carlisle III. He is survived by niece, Barbara Carlisle King; nephews, Stephen & Dianne Carlisle, Thomas Sr. & Dena Carlisle, Pete & Sue Carlisle and Paul & Anita Carlisle; sixteen great-nieces and nephews: Allison & Phil, Colleen & Matt, Elizabeth & Charles, Stephanie, Ben & Trent, Audrey & Mark, Thomas Jr., Adam, Joe & Amanda, Michael & Savannah, Meghan & Alan, Jill, Jenna, Sam & Cortney, Greg and Faith; great-great nieces and nephews, David, Michael, Danny, Riley, Braeden, Kandice, Zac, Thomas III, Cavin, Maryah and Calysta and many friends including Chuck Mills.
Honoring his wishes cremation will take place and a private burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, later this spring.
