Thomas Bruce Williams, age 79, of Sidney, lost his fight with cancer late Thursday evening, December 6, 2018 at his home under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice. The son of Bruce Douglas & Dorothy (Silverthorn) Williams, he was born on June 14, 1939 in Greenville.
After graduating from Newberry High School in Michigan's Upper Pennisula, Tom proudly earned his paratrooper wings with the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army and served in Alaska, Germany, and Vietnam. He was a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville and had been a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 96 F&AM.
On June 14, 1997, in Manton, he married Ruth Ellen Ingersoll and together they enjoyed over 21 years of marriage. Tom retired from the former Electrolux Home Products where he worked as an electrician and enjoyed hunting and fishing… especially fly fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth E. Williams of Sidney; his children, Kim & Troy Taylor, Doug & Brandy Williams, Tammy Dustin, Tonja & Kimber Otto, Amber & Craig Monastero, Doris Ingersoll, and Jenny & Kevin Hough; grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Keith, Brian, Tanner, Kelsey, True Thomas, Thomas, and Diana; great-grandchildren, Haylee, Cole, Amelia, Lucas, and Vincent; a brother, Richard & Linda Williams; a sister, Karen Simmons; sisters-in-law, Florence Kahler, Marjorie Ingersoll, Charlotte Ingersoll, Ruth Ingersoll-Finkbeiner, and Claudia Ingersoll; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring Tom's wishes, cremation will take place and private family services will be held. Instead of flowers, Tom would have appreciated contributions in his memory to either Shriner's Hospitals for Children or Heartland Hospice.
