Thelma Arlene House, age 93, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, Friday, April 4, 2014 at The Lodge at Maple Creek in Grand Rapids. The daughter of George & Lura (Dell) Rentschler, she was born on April 19, 1920 near Lakeview.
On November 21, 1945, in Greenville, she married Clayton F. House and together they raised two children and enjoyed nearly fifty years of marriage. A devoted wife and mother, Thelma also worked outside the home at the former Ranney Refrigerator Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton F. House on October 28, 1995; three sisters, Beatrice Kortes, Mable Hammel, and Lura Mae Jason; and two brothers, Frank Rentschler and Earl Rentschler.
Surviving are her children, Brenda House of Grand Rapids, and Gerald & Darlene House of Metamora; two grandchildren, Kevin & Darci Thompson, Angela & Tim Harger; four great grandchildren, Brittany & Troy Spade, Trevor Thompson, Zackary Thompson, and Jake Harger; a great-great grandson, Tristan Spade; a sister, Grace Smith formerly of Clifford Lake; a brother, George & Julia Rentschler of Lakeview; a brother-in-law, Chuck Jason of Carson City; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Rev. Dennis Napieralsky of New Horizons Ministry Center will officiate and burial will take place privately at Oakfield Township Cemetery.
