Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Steven Joseph Sochor, age 50, of Portland, passed away on December 20, 2012 after a valiant fight with melanoma cancer surrounded by his loved ones at the family cottage at Lincoln Lake.

The son of Charles & Rose Marie (Tichvon) Sochor, Steve was born September 14, 1962. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, Steve worked outdoors and owned his own business as a roofer and in construction. His free time was spent hunting and fishing that took him as far as Africa. He enjoyed long walks with his best friend and faithful lab, Chip, several times a day. His family and friends meant so much to him and he had a special love for his nieces and nephews. The impact he had on others was not realized until after he was gone.

Steve is survived by his parents; sisters; Kathy (Ron) Cooper, Melanie (Alex) Perez, Suzanne (Vic) Peiffer, and Lisa Fisher: brothers; Dennis, Gary (Deb), Terry, Blaine (Jennifer) and Jon; and a brother-in-law, Kevin Fisher. It was Steve’s wish that his body be donated to science for research so that others might benefit from his illness. However, after several different organizations were contacted it was not possible. Since the American Cancer Society is second in research only after the government, it was decided for those who desire donations can be made to the American Cancer Society-Relay For Life in care of Kathy Cooper or Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, MI 48838.

A celebration of Steve’s life and our love for him will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 at the family cottage on Lincoln Lake. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Steve’s online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit: www. ChristiansenCares.com

Hey, “Whitey” – I love you so greatly “Dude”, as you used to call out to me. I shall always see your bright smile which matched your brilliant, lovely Angel-hair and I`m glad we shared much in our conversations when we talked.
We shall talk once more and romp and play for the family-take years I missed, seeing you grow up into the fine man you are soaring over us. Our memories are forever! My love,Steve-we shall come again-your Big Brother, Dennis

One of the greatest friends I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Steve and I had a few great adventures, walking in the Las Vegas Desert, and Kayaking down Santa Fe River in Florida. We learned from each other, relied on each other and thrived in our lives because of the words we could share. He was the true meaning of a “BRO”. He was a Man’s Man in that he was always a polite gentleman and one of the few of my friends that my wife ever really loved. He built the roof that is still over my head. His soul will forever be etched in my heart. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and love are with his dog and family.

Dependable Professional, and a master at his craft. Steve provided a valuable service to Cranson Builders for almost 20 years. But first he was a friend. We will truly miss him. Godspeed, Steve to the highest pitch yet.

How wonderful for the Sochor family to be able to lay their beloved sibling to Rest In Peace.

Wishing all families had such a blessing.
