Stephen E. Dykstra, 76, passed away on January 14, 2019.  He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and devoted family and businessman.  Steve’s career in Graphic Arts started at Franklin Press as a printing press operator.  Through the years he ran presses at Gilson Press and West Michigan Printing.  He became a production supervisor at Zondervans Book Bible Publishing Company, while there he earned his master’s degree in business and became an executive at the company.  During his time at Zondervans he traveled regularly; as a result Steve was featured in a full page ad in a major newspaper for one of the main airlines as a frequent flyer.

Steve was an accomplished member of the West Michigan Craftsman Club.  Years later he started his own business of Dickens Printing.  After years of printing he retired and cut grass at his favorite golf course, Alpine Golf.  He later became a Zoner while driving truck for AutoZone in his spare time.

Steve loved life and lived it his own way.  In love for his family he brought his niece into his home and raised her as his own.  His kindness also helped out family members during hard times.  He had many friends, and touched many lives.  His most favorite place was Fish Camp, in Marathon, Florida, Fishing!

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.  In memory of Steve and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life Enrichment at The Oaks at Cascade, 1157 Medical Park Drive S.E., Grand Rapids, 49546.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Oaks at Cascade and Faith Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Stephen over the years.

Sending my condolences to Steves family on your loss. Steve hired me as a receptionist at Zondervan when I was still in high school. I later became his executive secretary. He was a great believer in the power of positive thinking and would call us into his office daily to listen to a short quote or story from Zig Ziglar or Dr. Wayne Dyer. He made work enjoyable and I have many fond memories of the years I worked for him.
