Sonia J. Francis, age 73, of Trufant, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The daughter of Sherwood & Josephine (Johnson) Schaaf, she was born on February 18, 1946 in Fresno, California.
Sonia was a gifted cook and was fortunate to make her passion a career, spending many years in restaurant and food service management. She also was a talented artist and enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sherwood Schaaf; a step-father, Frederick Sears; her mother, Josephine Sears; and a son, Robert Fuller. Surviving are a daughter, Kacie Toffoli of Cooper City, Florida; two grandchildren, Samantha Toffoli of Phoenix, Arizona, and Louis Toffoli of Fort Myers, Florida; two aunts, Arlene Blaesing and Geraldine & Darwin Smith; an uncle, Walter & Janet Johnson; and many dearly loved cousins and friends too numerous to name.
Honoring her wishes, private committal services will be held at Trufant Cemetery. Instead of flowers, Sonia would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Barrie's House, 1031 Johnson Road, Gowen, Michigan 49326 .

This woman was a gem! I worked with her and seen her every other day. She had a attitude with a heart of Gold and always made everyone around her smile. Sonia would always catch me at the Trufant Fleamarket on ThursdayGÇÖs if I hadnGÇÖt seen her enough. Rest In Peace beautiful soul G¥ñn+ÅG¥ñn+Å
I didnGÇÖt have the pleasure of knowing Sonia however I know her wonderful daughter Kacie and can only imagine what a special person raised a daughter like her. Rest In Peace Sonia…My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Kacie.
Life is not going to be the same without you. Who’s going to come out and have coffee on the deck with me, in our PJ’s. I loved growing up with you when we were younger, and reconnecting when you came back from Florida.

Sonia and I were BEST friends in 7th and 8th grade.-á Then she moved on to Grand Rapids.-á We reconnected when she was living in Florida and enjoyed some great memories together.-á So sorry to hear that she is gone.-á Condolences to all the family.
