Sidney W. Geers, 77, passed away Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at University of Michigan: Metro Health Hospital with his family at his side.
The son of Walter & Florence (Bloemsma) Geers, he was born December 31, 1941 in Missaukee County, Michigan.
Sidney was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam era.
He loved traveling and camping with his children during their younger years, and enjoyed his time in Florida. Sidney was a friend to everyone, always making friends wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother. Sidney is survived by his wife, Jo Capizzi; children, Bruce & Gayla Geers, Chad & Elizabeth Geers, Brooke & Matt Nichols, Rick & Barb Capizzi, and Mike & Betty Capizzi; and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren; along with many other family and friends.
Visitation with the family will begin on 10 A.M, on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, with a celebration of life immediately following at 11 A.M, 1084 76th St. SW, Byron Center, 49315, Pastor Gary Zinger will officiate with full military honors to conclude the service. The family would like to invite friends and family to join them for a luncheon following the service to continue the celebration of Sidney.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.

We are so very sorry for your loss and we are praying that the grace of our Lord, which surpasses all understanding, will comfort you and guide you through this time of mourning. Sid was a wonderful man with a kind heart and he will be missed and he now finds new life with the Lord who loved him before he was ever born and has had every tear removed and every ill taken away.
