Shirley Virginia Johnson, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan at her son's home at Bass Lake, Gowen. The daughter of Gilbert Eugene & Alberta Virginia (Moyer) Sherrick, she was born on January 9, 1933 in Greenville.
Shirley retired from the former Electrolux Home Products after 31 years of service and enjoyed cooking for family and friends and trips to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Johnson; a sister, Joetta M. Kern Thome; three brothers, John Gilbert Sherrick, Eugene B. "Gene" Sherrick and Donovan W. "Don" Sherrick; a granddaughter, Marian "Beth" Rood; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Ciganik.
Surviving are her children, Victoria & James Schultz of Gowen, Rebecca & Joel Wright of Stanton, Mary Beth Hampton & Leroy Wireman of Greenville, Julie & Gerald Rood of Ocala, Florida, and Kevin Ciganik of Gowen; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Glennis Jensen of Harrison, Sandra Quist of Greenville, and Jennifer & Arnold "Buster" Vasher of Harrison; her "soul sister", Phyllis Maine; her extended family at The Cedar Cafe in Cedar Springs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to extend their special thanks and appreciation to the entire team of caregivers at Hospice of Michigan.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Shirley's life from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Greenville Moose Lodge, 5649 S. Greenville Road, Greenville. Burial will take place privately at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Greenville.

Shirley, may you Rest in Peace in Heaven. My Prayers and Condolences go out to The Shirley Johnson Family; I met Shirley a few times and she was always nice with a smile, as she shook my hand. I also went to visit her in the Hospital in Grand Rapids, But The Family was gone and she was asleep, so I left a message on the marker board. My Heart goes out to Vicky, Becky, Julie, Kevin, Little Kevin and Especially Mary, who I’ve been Friends with for over 34 years; Love JIMI.
