Shirley Mae Boulette, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Monday morning, July 6, 2015 at Metron of Greenville.  The daughter of Charles and Audrey Piebenga, she was born on January 24, 1929 in Grand Rapids.

For several years Shirley made her home in Alaska, residing in Fairbanks and North Pole where she was active in the local gardening clubs. Shirley was an avid gardener, always planting a large vegetable garden and carefully planning out her flowerbeds for a riot of colors and textures.  A skilled seamstress by trade, Shirley also enjoyed quilting and lovingly crafted quilts for family members and friends alike. She returned to her home state of Michigan to settle in Greenville, where she worked at Friendship House for the City of Greenville Housing Commission for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles Piebenga, Jr.   Shirley is survived by her four daughters, Sharry Gillesse of Ada, Diane Sorce of Florida, Diane Peterson of Arkansas, and Sheila Boulette-Phoenix of Massachusetts.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren;  and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville.  Honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation.  The Rev. Ian MacDonald of the First Congregational Church of Greenville will officiate and burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
