Sandra Kay Matthews, age 71, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, December 12, 2018 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.  The daughter of Donald & Virginia (Miller) Medler, she was born on January 26, 1947 in Greenville. 

Sandy graduated from Lakeview High School, retired from Meijer after 44 years of dedicated service, and enjoyed gardening, but she delighted in time spent with her family…especially her nieces and nephews.

On April 24, 1990, in Belding, she married Paul Arnold Matthews and together they enjoyed 28 years of marriage until Paul passed away on August 17, 2018.  She was also preceded in death by her father, Donald Medler;  and a brother, Thomas W. Medler. 

Surviving are her mother,  Virginia Medler of Trufant;  a brother, Donald & Janet Medler of Grant;  a sister, Debbie & Tery Schuiteman of Newaygo;  a sister-in-law, Karol Medler of Trufant;  mother-in-law, Peg Wheeler of Greenville;  siblings-in-law, Steve & Sue Matthews of Greenville, Alvin & Wanita Matthews of Lakeview, Guy & Fredia Matthews of Orleans, Fonda & Larry Jones of Turk Lake and Jillene Wheeler of Grand Rapids;  her step-children, Mark Matthews, Kristen & Ken Lund, and Paula & Steve Clark;  six grandchildren;  four great-grandchildren;  and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.  The Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and burial beside her late husband, Paul, will take place privately at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. 

Instead of flowers, Sandy would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Spectrum Health Hospice.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
