Ruth N. Holton, age 88, of Sheridan, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at The Laurels of Carson City. The daughter of Roy & Rachel (Jenks) Miller, she was born on March 5, 1926 in Lansing and on December 20, 1956, in Grand Ledge, she married George A. Holton III. Together they enjoyed almost 58 years of marriage and raised four sons. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan and had been an avid rollerskater.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Sarah, Phyllis, and Beverly; and a brother, Garrold.

Surviving are her husband, George A. “Jack” Holton III of Sheridan; four sons, Tom & Cheryl Richards of Laingsburg, Larry & Annie Richards of Haslett, Doug & Karen Richards of Indiana, and George A. “Jake” & Brenda Holton IV of Ionia; two sisters, Dorothy Ballard of Roscommon and Sandy & Bob Hart of Lansing; a brother, Bob Miller of St. Johns; an aunt, Ruth Jenks of Shaftsburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Friday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday. The Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of the First Congregational Church will officiate and burial will take place privately at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lansing. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the VFW Post 5065 Ladies Auxiliary will be available at the funeral home.
