Ruth Arlene (Milliron) Harris, age 93, of Allegan, formerly of Irons, passed on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, fully knowing God’s love and grace. Born in Copemish, to Frank & Edna Milliron, she was the last living sibling. Ruth came to Allegan where her children, Carrol Harris (Mike) Tiller, Ron (Corlee) Harris, and Cheryl Harris live after her husband, James S. Harris, died in 1989.
Throughout her years, she shared much of her history with family and friends. She loved poetry and jokes and quoted many from memory. She loved to read on her Kindle. She enjoyed watching sports and participating in NCAA basketball pools, where she usually placed in the top 3. Her favorite movies were Maverick and anything John Wayne. She loved to gamble and play cards and usually came out on top. Her kindness and generosity were unmatched. She was a wonderful mother who loved her children, but nothing compared to the visits of her grandchildren and their children and tiny great-great grandchildren. They put a sparkle in her eyes and newness to her day.
Ruth had a great end-of-life story. During a recent stay at a hospital, she had a vision that she had unfinished business. After soul searching and much prayer, she realized that unfinished business was her need to be baptized. The family quickly arranged a baptism and once complete, she firmly announced to family that her “ducks were in a row” and proceeded to meet her God within hours of her baptism.
Ruth is survived by her children; grandchildren, Sarah Hunter (Pat) Hodapp of Plainwell, Beth Hunter (Bob) Loftus of Allegan, Laura Hunter (Morgan) Sullivan of Allegan, Brett (Michelle) Harris of Allegan, Michelle Tiller (Tom) Ablan of Bloomingdale, Tammy Tiller (Brad) Page of Gobles, Laurie Tange of Allegan, Lynnae White of Allegan, and Roger Rininger of Allegan; her great-grandchildren Johnathan and Veronica Klein, Gavin and Shea Hodapp, Ben, Thomas, Roxanne Loftus, Hunter and Emma Sullivan, Dylan and Ross Harris, Bill (Kortney) Zellmer, Michael Zellmer (Alexis Ketchum), Claysen and Addie Page, Billy Tange, Jennifer (Peter) West, Amanda Tange (Clayton Eraas), and Joshua and Jaelee White; her great-great grandchildren Payton, Sophia, Lucas, William, and Halle; wonderful sister-in-laws Evelyn and Laura. Plus many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Harris; parents, Frank and Edna Milliron; siblings, Mildred (Milliron) Knoll, Dorothy (Milliron) Milam, and Gordon and George Milliron.
Friends and family are invited for a visitation at a private residence located at 3314 Pine Tree Dr., Allegan on Saturday, August 15th from 4 to 7, with a short prayer/service at 5:30. There will be a private burial in Copemish, Michigan at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wings Home of Allegan or Wounded Warriors.
