Ronald C. Bunn, age 72, of Wyoming, passed away at home on Wednesday evening, April 18, 2012 under the loving care of his family and Faith Hospice.

The son of H. Clifford Bunn and Hazel (Harris) Johnson, he was born on November 5, 1939 in Grand Rapids. A proud veteran of the Vietnam war, Sgt. Bunn served in the U.S. Army and continued his service to his country by serving as Commander of the American Legion Post 263 in Idlewild, First Vice of AmVets Post 1988, and Captain of the Lake County Honor Guard. He was also a member of the Club Cruisers of Grand Rapids for many years.

On November 3rd, 1962 he married Essie Brooks and together they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. Following his retirement from General Motors, where he worked as a machine operator, Ron enjoyed spending his free time fishing, golfing, and bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Friley Johnson; and a brother, Donald Bunn. Surviving are his loving wife, Essie; five children, Tonya Bunn-Clayton of Arkansas, Gregory Bunn of California, Phillip (Sharon) Bunn, Angela Bunn, Ronald (Kelly) Bunn II, all of Grand Rapids; two Goddaughters; Fredericka Hayes and Natasha Anderson; four sisters, Nellie Bollenbacher, Carol Smith, Valerie (Tyrone) Chatmon, and Bonnie Johnson; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren… with another on the way; a Special Aunt Helen Morgan, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, 2500 S. Division Avenue, Grand Rapids, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions in Ron’s name may be given to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook St. S.E., Ste. 300, Grand Rapids, MI, 49546.
