Roger D. Vandenburg, age 70, of Fenwick, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 27, 2015 at Spectrum Health Continuing Care in Grand Rapids.  The son of Egbert John & Marian F. (Edwards) Vandenburg, he was born on November 13, 1944 and was a 1963 graduate of Sheridan Agricultural High School.  On June 26, 1964, at Butternut Bible Church, he  married Judy Kaye Lund and together they raised two children and enjoyed almost 51 years of marriage. 

A skilled carpenter, craftsman, and general contractor, Roger founded Vandenburg Builders in 1971, a company his son and grandsons continue to operate today.  He was a member of Beth Haven Baptist Church and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Vandenburg on Aug. 23, 1999;  his mother, Marian Vandenburg on March 28, 2005;  two brothers, Rodney Vandenburg on Dec. 5, 1980, and Ronald Vandenburg on Dec. 30, 1997;  a sister-in-law, Jerri Vandenburg on Nov. 23, 1997;  and his father-in-law, Earl Lund on April 23, 2004.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Vandenburg of Fenwick;  their children, Jeff & Jonni Vandenburg of Fenwick and LeeAnn & Jack Morris of Sheridan;  thirteen grandchildren, James & Anna Vandenburg, John & Ashley Vandenburg, Jacob & April Vandenburg, Joshua Vandenburg, Joseph Vandenburg, Jessica Vandenburg, LeahAnn Morris, Jedidiah & Brittany Morris, Jesse Morris, Spencer Morris, Sterling Morris, Jericho Morris, and Lydia Morris;  five great grandchildren, Alayna Vandenburg, Logan Vandenburg, Adalaya Vandenburg, Kyndra Vandenburg, and Carter Morris;  a brother, Jerome & Claire Vandenburg of Fenwick;  his mother-in-law, Doris Lund of Sheridan;  two sisters-in-law, Sharon Vandenburg of Sheridan and Linda Vandenburg of Greenville;  a brother-in-law, Bruce & Vicki Lund of Sheridan;  a maternal aunt, Mabel Edwards of Kalamazoo;  and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Beth Haven Baptist Church, 1158 W. Carson City Road (M-57, Sheridan, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.  The Rev. Kevin Crowell will officiate and burial will follow at Sheridan Cemetery.

    Judy and family,
    Our deepest sympathy to you all for your loss. Roger was such a gentleman. He and Jeff built our house 21 years ago and did such a wonderful job. May you find comfort in your memories.
