Richard Douglas "Dick" Dennis, age 79, of Coral, passed away early Sunday morning, March 29, 2015 at Metron of Greenville.  The son of Raymond M. & Nellie L. (Riley) Dennis, he was born on March 15, 1936 in Flint and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War era as part of the Army of Occupation in Germany.

Richard was a skilled chef who worked in the restaurant and hotel industry and will be long remembered by family and friends for his culinary talents.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  a special friend, Shari;  two brothers, William Dennis and Robert Dennis;  a half-brother, Donald Dennis, who was killed in combat at Iwo Jima during World war II; and a half-sister, Berniece Balasko.

Surviving are his children, Richard "Ricky" Dennis of Hersey, Raymond Anthony "Tony" Dennis of  Pensacola, Florida, Michelle Dennis of Lexington, Kentucky, and Kristina Dennis of Lakeview;  a brother, Cecil & Irene Riley of Greenville;  a sister, Joyce & Wayne Thomas of Gowen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;  and several nieces and nephews.

    My sympathy at the loss of Dick. I was in his graduating class and I believe we rode the same bus. I always thought he might become a racecar driver, not a chef. He was very fun loving and I enjoyed knowing him. A classmate, Sharon VanderSchuur Ritter
