Richard C. Brooks, age 72, of Manton, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice.
The son of Clarence & Adeline (Payment) Brooks, he was born on Dec. 4, 1943 in Grand Rapids and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Preferred Tool & Die.
Surviving are his children, Lisa (Mark) Blanchard and Julie Saindon, all of Rockford, and Maria (Leo) Gonzalez of Pinckney; seven grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Oosting of North Carolina; a brother, Clarence "Chuck" Brooks of Grand Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a military tribute at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, at the Amvets Post No. 120, 3669 N. 9 Rd, Mesick, MI 49668, where a time of food and fellowship will follow. My deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved this man. I personally did not know him well, only knew him as family. I have an imense amount of respect for the Brooks name and wouldn’t be here without it. Prayers and hugs.
