Reva Betser, age 91, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Spectrum Health-Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview.  The daughter of James & Ethel (Jeffrey) Klingensmith, she was born on March 23, 1925 in Edmore and grew up during the hard times of the Great Depression.

When she was just 16 years old, she met George Robert Betser, Sr. and on December 20, 1941, in Michigan Center, Jackson County, they married.  When George returned home from the U.S. Army after serving in World War II, they moved to Greenville where Reva and George had resided for over 70 years.

Reva's life was filled with raising three active boys and being a homemaker who took pride in cooking for her family and keeping a tidy house.  She was a warm and nurturing mother not only to her children, but also to her son's many friends who stopped in for some delicious food and the welcome home that Reva provided. Her two daughters-in-law would like it to be known that she was not just an "in-law", but was a mother to them and they are blessed to have had her in their lives.  Later in life, Reva was an active Grandma and Great-Grandma to almost 30 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, George Betser, Sr. on April 29, 2013;  her parents;  three sisters, Wilma Hinton, Katie Klingensmith, and Virginia Klingensmith;  a brother, Wayne Klingensmith;  a granddaughter, Ruth Betser;  and a great-grandson, Jase Betser.

Surviving are her three sons, George Betser, Jr., Ron & Missy Betser, all of Greenville, and Steven & Cheryl Betser of Six Lakes; her grandchildren, James Betser, Georgia Betser, Jeanetta Stowe, Wendy Betser, Patrick Betser, Tammy Betser, Kevin Betser, Ronnie Betser, Jr., Steven Betser, Jr., Jennifer Domke, Sarah Betser, and Emily Zamoum;  her great-grandchildren, John Brinkley, Cheyenne Betser, Jenna Stowe, Caleb Stowe, Joey Gordon, MacKenzie Gordon, Coley Betser, Brody Betser, Harper Betser, Adalyn Betser, Darien Betser, Jared Betser, Jacob Tompkins, Vella Tompkins, Abby Owen, and Austin Owen; one great-great grandson, Graham Betser;  and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where envelopes for memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice will be available.  Private family committal services will follow at Sheridan Cemetery.

Reva was one wonderful woman. I have many fond memories of times spent with her. She could party with the best of them and always made sure there was food for the troops. She will always have a special place in my heart.
