I am writing as I remember Cousins Joe and Lucille’s 68th wedding anniversary yesterday (Feb 2, 1947). We lived so far away from each other but I so remember their strong love for Jesus Christ and how that permeated their lives. They were so incredibly kind and gentle and loving–even to a sullen teenager who hated giving up her room to what seemed to her (at the the time) distant relatives. They brought up their sons to be the same way and the legacy my cousins have left is awesome to behold. If our country survives to be the blessing to the world that God created her to be, it will be due to rare people like Rev Joe and Lucille Schanke Nelson. God bless you!
