I took jazz sax lessons from Ray when I was a senior at Grand Valley. Soon after that I was a regular in his Big Band. He was a great teacher, musician and mentor. Rest in Peace Ray, you will be missed.
I have a book inscribed to “Raymond Vincent Gill from Grandma, Christmas 1913” (or 1918). It’s “The Motorcycle Chums in the Land of the Sky” by Andrew Carey Lincoln. I got it in Bloomington, IL. Could it have been Mr. Gill’s ? The name says yes but the dates say no….
PS. Re the book, I can be contacted at ted “at” fagerburg dot com.
