Ray Howard Jensen, age 66, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, March 18, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids. The son of Stanley Edgar & Freda (Park) Jensen, he was born on Feb. 11, 1943.
For 41 years Ray worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company where he was a member of UAW Local 137. Before marrying Donna Yvonne Jorgensen-Christiansen, on June 2, 1990, he had served as treasurer of the Greenville Area Singles for several years.
Ray was an avid reader who also enjoyed animals — especially his dogs — but found his greatest joy in his grandchildren. In death, Ray gave the gift of life by being an organ and tissue donor.
He was preceded in death his parents; and two sisters, Maxine Swift and Clarice Inovejas.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Y. Jensen of Greenville; a son, Jeffrey & Reina Jensen of Greenville; a sister, Connie & James DeYoung of Jenison; two step-daughters, Yvonne Christiansen & Dana Felde, and Genean Bolen; his grandchildren, Kristin and Taylor Jensen, Michael, Aundrea, and Samantha Bolen, Ashley and Jacob Felde, and Marcus Demorey; special friends, Virgil & Bonnie Hopkins, Dee Sanders, and Charles Dow; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Memorial services were held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth Street, Orleans, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service and burial will take place at McBride Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, Ray would have appreciated contributions in his memory to the Humane Society. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Rays online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please click the “Sign Guest Book” link above.
