Miss Rachel C. Dakin, age 88, of the Blanchard-Six Lakes area, formerly of rural Entrican, passed away Saturday morning, July 5, 2008 at home.
The daughter of John Jack & Bessie Mae (Foote) Dakin, she was born on Nov. 28, 1919 near Stanton. A graduate of Stanton High School, Rachel retired from the former Hitachi Magnetics plant in Edmore and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and tending her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Myrtle Lower, Jean Babcock, Alice Greenhoe, and Bernice Smith. Surviving are a sister, Lillian Hansen of Dickerson Lake; a brother, John Dakin of Blanchard; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with burial following at Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton. Pastor Dale Murray will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
